Heiner Lobenberg über:
Turo d'en Mota Brut Nature Cava 2010

100
/100

Lobenberg: Aus 1940 gepflanzten wurzelechten Xarello-Reben.

-- Parker: The current release from their flagship single vineyard is the 2010 Turó d'en Mota, from the vineyard that names the wine, planted in 1940, 0.97 hectares on limestone-rich soils. They picked 3,742 kilograms of grapes on September 7th, which represents a yield of 21 hectoliters per hectare. It fermented in 300-liter oak barrels with weekly bâtonnage for six weeks and was put to referment in bottle with neutral yeasts where the wine matured with the lees under a cork stopper for at least 12 years. 2010 was an unusual year with abundant rain in autumn and spring and a warm summer that brought ripe grapes with full development of aromas and flavors. The wine is super balanced, subtle and elegant, with insinuating aromas of great complexity mixing flowers and herbs; it's balsamic, almost minty, with freshness, smoky and toasted notes, bakery aromas and high-pitched notes of cloves. It has a velvety, seamless palate with very small, integrated bubbles and a very long, clean and tasty finish. In October 2023, I tasted all 25 vintages produced, and this was one of my favorite years. 2,581 numbered bottles produced. It has 12% alcohol, with a pH of 3.23 and 5.4 grams of acidity. It was disgorged in November 2023. This was my favorite from all the vintages between 2023 and 2010, the 'unreleased ones,' at a tasting of all 25 vintages from Turó d'en Mota back in October 2023. And in April 2024, it didn't disappoint me either.

Weingut über: Turo d'en Mota Brut Nature Cava

-- Weingut: “Turó d’en Mota is fruit of nature, nurtured by people who observe and respect its laws.” Turó d’en Mota de Recaredo represents the elegance of simplicity: a unique vineyard, a single grape variety, one vintage and a limited production. It is a terroir wine in the broadest sense; in other words, the expression of an area of very calcareous land with a Mediterranean microclimate, Xarel·lo grapes and a viticulture of observation rather than intervention. A long and careful ageing of at least 120 months in contact with the lees obtains the most subtle and complex nuances of the expression of time. The Turó d’en Mota vineyard, which was planted in 1940 and trained traditionally, is property of Recaredo. It is located in the northwestern corner of the municipality of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, in the county of Alt Penedès (Barcelona), on the north side of a hill named Turó d’en Mota, from which it gets its name. The land is extremely calcareous and has a silty loam structure (a balance of sand, silt and clay) with the presence of calcareous nodules. A long and careful ageing of at least 13 years in contact with the lees obtains the most subtle and complex nuances of the expression of time. Recaredo Turó d’en Mota should be stored at around 15 ºC. We recommend serving it in a glass of white wine at 10 ºC and opening the bottle a few minutes before serving.
