Lobenberg: 98 Prozent Merlot und zwei Prozent Cabernet Franc. Der direkte Nachbar von Église Clinet. Der Alkoholgehalt liegt bei 14,8 Volumenprozent. Fast schwarz mit rubinroten Reflexen im Glas. Sehr schöne Merlot-Nase mit satter schwarzer Kirsche, sehr weicher Brombeere und etwas Lakritze. Sehr elegant – was für eine schöne ätherische Nase! Extrem schick und fein… Im Mund erstaunlich zart. Hier nur Schwarzkirsche mit einer leichten Holzkohle-Spur, auch ein paar grüne Elemente, vielleicht wurde sehr früh gelesen. Durchaus seidiges Tannin, aber in Summe sehr frisch. Passt.

-- Markus Del Monego: Intense purple color with violet hue and almost black core. Aromatic and expressive nose, very fragrant fruit, plums, black cherries, hints of blackcurrants and elderberries. Fine hints of violets in the background. On the palate well-structured with rich character, almost velvety texture, excellent maturity of tannins, very convincing length with finesse and persistence.

-- Suckling: Impressive freshness and succulence to the fruit flavors. Chocolatey character is backed by smooth, well-integrated tannins. Medium to full body. Plenty of dark and blue fruit on the mid-palate, leading to a firm finish. Old vines worked well here. Very structured with solid tannins. 98% merlot and 2% cabernet franc. Better than 2022.

-- Tim Atkin: Cool mint and red fruit aromas with some minerals and a trace of spice. This is quite tight and closed, but with deep black fruit underneath. Some sweet herbs like thyme and rosemary. Very concentrated and deep with lush black fruits, silky tannins and multi- layered sweet fruit. Hints of liquorice and clove. Iodine and ferric notes to the acidity - super fresh despite the relatively elevated alcohol, this is a real treat this year and packed full of rich flavour. Long and concentrated finish.

Die Domaine de L’Eglise wurde schon 1589 erstmals in Urkunden, den alten Papieren der Stadt Libourne, erwähnt. Damit ist die Domaine nachweislich das älteste Weingut auf dem Plateau von Pomerol.
