Lobenberg: 100% Macabeo. Das ist 100% Viura wie vom anderen Stern! Gekühlte Ganztraubenmaische der aus alten Reben stammenden Trauben. Nach 2 Tagen abgepresst und im offenen 1000 Liter Holzfass vergoren. Ausbau danach ohne Batonnage im 500 Liter gebrauchten Tonneau. Blasses Gelb. Blumig mineralische Zitrusnase, Salz und Stein dazu, extrem klar und transparent und reintönig. Toller Geradeauslauf, sehr fokussiert. Fast ohne Druck, leicht und schwebend und doch sehr intensiv für ein langes langes Leben. Unendlich lang und nachhallend. Ein ganz großer, ganz klarer Weißwein, großes transparentes Mineral-Kino. Einer der allerbesten Weißweine Europas! 100+/100

-- Parker: The 2020 El Jardín de las Iguales Macabeo was produced with the grapes from a singular vineyard that was planted in 1890 on sloped slate soils. The grapes were picked on September 4 and fermented in a 1,000-liter oak foudre with indigenous yeasts after 40 hours of maceration with the skins. It matured in the foudre for 12 months. It has 13.5% alcohol and remarkable freshness (pH 3.12 and 6.2 grams of acidity). It follows the line of the 2019; I see both vintages as very complete, nuanced, elegant and fresh. This is a little slimmer, and there's more electricity. It's a little more floral and very tasty. Only 812 bottles were filled in April 2022. 97/100

-- Tim Atkin: 120 year old, single vineyard Macabeo. Grown on the site of the red of the same name, the wine enjoys both Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, displaying garrigue, fennel and lavender aromas along with an attractive touch of reduction. The wine seems to benefitfrom 12 months in foudre and time in bottle before release, patiently gaining in weight and complexity. An inherently elegant wine which blends a seductive crème pâtissière palate with a salty, limey, margarita finish. Only around 800 bottles produced. 2024 - 2026 97/100
