Lobenberg: Gibt es Perfektion? Mit dem Armagh gelingt Jim Barry das absolute Meisterstück! Tiefes violett im Glas. Dann an der Nase ein Kraftpaket das gleichzeitig so viel Finesse und Eleganz aufweist. Wahnsinn! Ein Boxer im Ballerina Tütü. Schwarze Kirsche, Zwetschge, und Waldbeeren. Reif und saftig. Im Moment ist das Holz noch sehr präsent, aber es steht diesem Wein außerordentlich gut. Vanille, etwas Zimt, ein Hauch von Rauch, Lakritz und Tabak. Dann im Mund drückt er richtig. Die reife Frucht ist aber nicht schwer, sondern in Balance mit guter Säure und dem runden fast seidigen Tannin. Im Mund ist die Frucht eher rot. Kirsche und knackig reife Himbeere mit frischer Zwetschge. Ein großer Wein der sich in den nächsten zehn bis 20 Jahren sogar noch steigern wird. 100/100

-- Suckling: Wow. This is a bold, brassy shiraz that carries a wealth of very intense aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plums, licorice and sweetly spiced earth. Still so very youthful and primary. The palate is so powerful, so mouth-filling and so, so juicy. This manages to deliver such intensity and composure. Supple, long and deep-set tannins and heroically expressive fruit. Really impressive now, but this will deliver much more over the next two decades. One of the finest releases to date. 99/100

-- Parker: My pick of the recently bottled vintages, the 2016 The Armagh Shiraz shows a bit more obvious oak (simply because of its youth) but also a wonderful taut tension between ripeness and acidity. The fruit here is a bit redder in profile, leaning more toward raspberries than blackberries, while still being fully ripe. Full-bodied and supple, it finishes cedary, intense and long, adding in complex, lingering spice notes. 97/100

Galloni über: The Armagh Shiraz

-- Galloni: Saturated violet. Powerful, spice-accented black and blue fruits, incense, potpourri and licorice on the hugely perfumed nose. Stains the palate with alluringly sweet, finely detailed blueberry, cassis, mocha, exotic spice and cola flavors; a hint of vanilla appears with air. Blends power and finesse with a sure hand and shows superb balance and zero rough edges. Finishes wonderfully long and juicy, with harmonious tannins and resonating spice and floral notes. 97/100
