Lobenberg: Totale Eleganz und cremige Fülle verbinden sich zu einem perfekten Wein. Erstaunlich druckvolle Nase, Quitte, Birne, weißer Pfirsich, Nektarine, Bitterorange und Limettenzesten. Ein Hauch Holz. Lang, salzig, floral und sehr saftig in seiner Frucht, im Mund noch intensiver als in der Nase. Power, Druck. Tolle Reduktion. Ein Hauch von gebrauchtem großen Holzfass. Rodrigo ist für Rias Baixas styistisch so etwas wie Roulot in Meursault oder Schäfer Fröhlich an der Nahe. Puristisch und doch immer auch ein Intensivtäter mit Hang zur Moderne. Dieser Wein ist archetypisch für Rodrigo Mendez und Forjas del Salnes. Zusammen mit seinem besten Freund Eulogio Zarate ist Rodrigo DIE Zaubermaus hier oben im kühlern Galizien, was Zarate im klassischen Stil an Größe zeigt, weist Rodri im modernen Stil auf. Zwei Superstars der zwei Stilrichtungen.

2023 war sehr warm, aber er ist deutlich kühler und balancierter als der noch heißere und trockenere 2022. Nicht so aufregend und extrem wie 2021, eher eine reife und harmonische Version von 2020. Und so ist 2023 durchaus eine Fortsetzung der so großen Jahrgänge seit 2019. Luis Gutierez, Parkers Mann für Spanien, fasst den Jahrgang 2023 anhand von Alvaro Palacios Weingütern ganz im Westen und ganz im Osten, somit Landesübergreifend so zusammen: 2023 was an even more generous crop than 2022 … the wines have better balance, and it doesn't feel like a warm year at all. In fact, the wines feel more like they come from a cool year. It's a vintage that has a tendency toward reduction, not as much as 2020, but still reductive. But it's an elegant, stony reduction...The quality of the 2023s is stunning. There is a level of precision, cleanliness, symmetry and elegance that, if the end of the élevage and the bottling goes as expected, I must conclude that 2023 might be the finest vintage ... There might be other individual wines that reach higher peaks, but as an overall portfolio, the vintage 2023 represents the strongest collection ever produced.

Parker über: Leirana Albarino

-- Parker: The textbook 2023 Leirana is elegant, clean and expressive, with notes of white flowers and fruit, fine lees and herbs. It fermented and matured in stainless steel and 80% in oak foudres for six months. The palate is medium-bodied with good ripeness and a moderate 12.4% alcohol, keeping the freshness and balance and finishing with a bitter and salty twist. This is very tasty. 50,000 bottles. It was bottled in March 2024.

-- Suckling: Lots of lime, citrus, sea stones and brine. The palate is fresh, incisive, saline and medium- to full-bodied. Full of energy, with a bright, tense finish. The grapes for this wine come from Meano, Sanxenxo and Ribadumia. This is one of the great entry-level wines of the region. It will surely evolve favorably. Drink now or hold.

Tim Atkin über: Leirana Albarino

-- Tim Atkin: One of those Albariños that I buy on a regular basis, this is a very smart wine that usesgrapes from different sectors of the Salnés Valley. Fermented and aged in foudres andstainless steel, it's a textbook Rías Baixas white, with notes of citrus, beeswax and sourdoughbread and a sappy, granitic finish.
