Lobenberg: Der legendäre Kellermeister von Jadot, Frederic Barnier, baut sehr klassisch aus. Ein Drittel neues Holz, ein Drittel einjähriges, ein Drittel zweijähriges. Nahezu immer zu 100 Prozent entrappt. Einjähriger, kühler Ausbau in den Kellern von Jadot. Der Clos Saint-Denis ist eine der zwei großen Grand-Cru-Lagen in Morey-Saint-Denis. Die Toplagen in Morey sind sehr speziell und anders als alles was sonst an der Côte den Nuits gibt, weil es deutlich erdiger, dunkler, tiefer und würziger wird. In Morey ist aber Clos Saint Denis sicher der feinere Grand Cru neben Bonnes Mares und ein Bruder im Geiste des Clos des Lambrays. Warme Schwarzkirschnase, auch Brombeere, Schlehe, feine Karamelle, helle Lakritze und frisch gebrühter Kaffee, dazu Mahagoni und etwas Tabak. Der Wein changiert zwischen der herben Würze von Gevrey und der Frische von Morey. Morey liegt ja zwischen Chambolle und Gevrey und auch vom Charakter ist es irgendwo dazwischen, mal mehr zum einen, mal mehr zum anderen tendierend. Morey hat keinen so festgelegten Charakter wie die genannten, vielleicht ist sie deshalb auch etwas weniger bekannt, weil sie indifferenter ist. Was aber Morey immer hat, und der Clos Saint Denis im Speziellen, ist die wahnsinnige Energie, diese helle, fast strahlende Säure mit der Salzigkeit, die alles trägt. Der Wein tanzt, ist ein bisschen wild und funky. Morey ist eben nicht brav, sondern etwas ungestüm, aufbrausend und doch ist der Wein so unendlich finessenreich in seiner Vitalität. Ich liebe diese Appellation sehr, auch weil sie sich nicht in eine Schublade stecken lässt wie viele andere. Man wird jedes Jahr wieder aufs Neue überrascht. Ein wirklich sehr spezieller Grand Cru und trotzdem großes, pures Burgund. 97-98+/100
