Lobenberg: Ausgebaut für 14 Monate in 60 Prozent neuer französischer Eiche und 40 Prozent Zweitbelegung, Malolaktik im Fass. Tiefes, leuchtendes Rubinrot. Der Optimus legt direkt die Marschrichtung von L’Aventure fest: Opulente Nase mit dunkler, druckvoll hedonistischer, imposanter Frucht. Reife Blaubeeren, Pflaumen, Zwetschgen Kompott, konzentrierte, süße Schwarzkirschen, braune Gewürze, Nelkenpfeffer, Oliventapenade, Potpourri, würziges frisches Fleisch, Eisen, Leder. Die dunkle Mineralität ist mindestens so imposant wie die Frucht. Fein rauchig, monumental. Dieser Wein liefert ein fabelhaftes Spiel aus Druck, Finesse und Eleganz. Schon die Nase ist ultra beeindruckend! Im Mund trifft cremige, sogar seidige Frucht auf die Zunge. Reife Schwarzkirschen, Brombeeren und Blaubeeren mit einem Hauch Vanille. Die salzige Steinigkeit macht den Übergang zu eingelegten Veilchen und Blüten. Lorbeerblatt, Nelken, Pfeffer. Elegante, beinahe saftige Tannine und wunderbar harmonierende Frische. Ein Wein, der trotz seiner Zugänglichkeit von einigen Jahren Flaschenreife profitieren wird. Bravo!

-- Colin Hay: Floral, with rose petal essence and pot pourri the first notes to express themselves. Lifted. Elegant. Stylish. Candlewax. A slight suggestion of nail varnish. Deep dark plump plush berries. Very pure and refined, this is not at all a block-buster. Juicy. Polished. Lots of finesse. Velvety textured, with quite a dense and perhaps surprisingly four-square central block of dark fruit, graphite and pepper surrounded by very fine-grained, soft and supple, almost delicate tannins. Nicely pixilated 95/100

-- Parker: The 2021 Optimus is an elegant, polished blend of 55% Syrah, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Petit Verdot. It takes plenty of air to reveal maraschino cherry, blueberry, leather, aniseed, gravel dust and garrigue aromas. The full-bodied palate offers expansive, spicy fruit framed by powdery tannins and focused acidity, and it has a long, latent finish. It will benefit from 3-5 years in bottle. 95/100

-- Decanter: Sleek and straight, I love the texture here, smooth and so filling in a caressing kind of way. Tannins are lovely, soft and subtle, and this has a delicate sweetness with some savoury touches and bright acidity giving tang. It's lean and straight, gorgeous streamlined elements, nothing too massy or plump, but keeps the intensity of flavour al the way and ends still with lift and bite and juice. I like this a lot, it's not trying too hard to overplease. Glossy and shiny. Floral and finessed.
