Lobenberg: Das ein Weißwein aus Ribera del Duero mal zu meinen Top-Weißweinen der iberischen Halbinsel zählt, war mir vor Dominio del Aguila unvorstellbar. Uralte Albillo und ungezählte autochthone Rebsorten im gemischten Satz. Grüngelb im Glas. Zitrusfrüchte mit Holz und Gestein, Kampfer, ätherische Öle, Lavendel, Rosmarin, Waldmeister, Rosinen und herber Honig. Viel provencalisches Kraut dazu, enorm würzig, fast etwas schräg daherkommend. Im Mund sensationell salzig steiniger Zug, Kraut und Unterholz, getrocknete Schalen von Orange und Limette, unsaftige Quitte. Unglaubliche Spannung. Der Wein ist 2 ganze Jahre im kalten Keller und neuem Holz fermentiert worden. Rauch und ätherischer Wacholder ist sicher ein Ergebnis davon. Schräg guter, einzigartiger Stoff. 97-99/100

-- Tim Atkin: One of Spain's greatest white wines, produced outside the Ribera del Duero Denominación de Origen for the time being, this is a field blend of Albillo Mayor with 5% of other varieties. Salty, stony and appealingly reductive, with some lovely struck match top notes, it hasthe concentration of its 100-year-old vines, bread, almond and citrus peel flavours and a chiselled finish. World class. 2024-35 98/100

Parker über: Dominio del Aguila Blanco Albillo Vinas Viejas

-- Parker: I first tasted the 2019 Albillo Viñas Viejas double blind with my tasting group, and I was blown away (and the rest of the group too!) by its sheer elegance and freshness. It has a fine reduction, hints of toasted sesame seeds, very clean fruit and flowers. It feels like a Burgundy but lighter and fresher, with more elegance and a flinty and stony sensation on the palate. It has 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.05; it took a long time to ferment (13 months!) and then matured in barrel to complete 35 months of élevage. 5,932 bottles and 225 magnums produced. It was bottled in September 2022.
