Lobenberg: Der Wein wächst in der Gemeinde Barberino Val d'Elsa, er steht immer für eine äußerst feine und geschliffene Interpretation des Chianti. In der Nase Sauerkirsche, Johannisbeerwürze und Blaubeere, auch rote Beete. Reintönig, rotfruchtig und klassisch elegant. Der Gaumen ist extrem stylisch und feinsaftig mit großer Frische in der roten Frucht, leicht erdig unterlegt, Blutorange, intensive Sauerkirsche, ein Touch Kreide und auch florale Elemente, Schnittblumen. Der Wein zieht sich lang und saftig über den Gaumen, ausgesprochen elegant und klassisch in der Struktur aber dabei tänzelnd fein. 93-94/100

-- Decanter: Besides a healthy dose of Canaiolo Nero, proprietor Paolo De Marchi blends in a dash of Syrah to give backbone, especially in lighter vintages - he believes it to be less invasive than other international varieties. Fragrantly expressive, enticing notes of aromatic herbs, rose, fennel, clove and fresh forest floor greet the nose. While wonderfully medium in weight, this packs a lot in, especially tangy blackcurrant. Chalky tannins are subtly assertive and will carry the wine through the midterm. 92/100

-- Parker: With 114,000 bottles produced, this is a terrific value buy from one of the best performing estates in the appellation. The 2018 Chianti Classico is made with 82% Sangiovese that has been blended with 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah from a mix of sandstone, galestro and alberese soils. The wine is fresh and fruit forward with bright berry aromas over easy spice and smoky tar. 91/100
