Lobenberg: Sehr einladende Aromatik. Hier dominieren schwarze Beere die Nase, Brombeere, Johannisbeere. Und dann betörende Veilchen-Töne. Nuancen von Süßholz und ein klitzekleiner Hauch von Vanille erkennbar, die eine leichte Süße in die Nase zaubern. Im Mund dichte, kompakte Frucht. Schwarze Kirsche und Brombeere. Hier ist nichts fett, nichts opulent. Immer enorm elegant und bestens strukturiert. Die Säure baut ein Gerüst, das steht. Im ganzen Mundraum eine wunderbare Textur mit feinster Mineralität. Und immer wieder neue Nuancen, jetzt kommen noch dunkle Schokolade und leichte Röstaromen dazu. Wahnsinn. Dieser Weine könnte eine Blaupause für dichte, elegante Blaufränkisch sein und wahrscheinlich ist er es auch. Ganz Groß. 97/100

-- Falstaff: Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezenter Wasserrand. Mit feiner tabakiger Kräuterwürze unterlegte frische schwarze Beerenfrucht, zart nach Wacholder und Lakritze, ein Hauch Bergamotte. Saftig, frische rote Herzkirschen, feine, tragende Tannine, finessenreich strukturiert, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, balanciert und leichtfüßig, bleibt gut haften, sicheres Potenzial. 96/100

-- Parker: The 2017 Blaufränkisch Burgenland Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben is deep, intense, fresh and floral on the concentrated and spicy nose that is dominated by dark berry, sour cherry and herbal aromas, with a subtle saline aroma that is a kind of typical for the Moric red wines from limestone, namely from Lutzmannsburg. With time, elderflowers and dark cherry emerge along with notes of pure raw beef, iron, tea, redcurrant and floral notes from lavender and cress blossoms. It is fresh and silky on the palate, with fleshy, concentrated and chewy fruit and an enormous finish that reveals concentration as well as mineral freshness and limestone purity intertwined with ripe and crumbly tannins. This is a fascinating, pure and refreshing wine that will turn out to be one of the greatest in the history of Moric. Bottled in September 2019 and tasted in June 2020. 96/100

-- Wine&Spirits: Blaufränkisch in a Burgundy mode, this draws attention with its floral spice, flinty smokiness, and velvety cherry fruit. Its gauzy texture keeps up that impression, but the flavors head deep into the mountains of Burgenland, reflecting the warm granite slopes in its mix of ripeness and firm, earthy savor. It's a fascinating trip, and entirely satisfying, especially as it drifts into the long finish, meandering through forested hills, berry thickets and wildflower plains. Roland Velich makes it from the fruit of old, low-yielding vines on a high, stony plateau in the Leitha mountains, fermented on the skins in open vats with ambient yeasts, then aged in large, old casks for a year. Delicious now, this will age well for a decade or more. 96/100
