Lobenberg: 85 Prozent Cabernet Sauvignon, 13,5 Prozent und 1,5 Prozent Petit Verdot. Der Ausbau geschieht für 18 Monate in 55 Prozent neuen Barriques, der Rest sind einjährige Fässer. Der Alkoholgehalt liegt bei 13,5 Volumenprozent. 2023 wurden 30 Hektoliter pro Hektar gelesen. Das Partnerweingut von Château Canon in Saint-Émilion bestätigt die Tendenz zur extremen Finesse inzwischen Jahr für Jahr. So auch 2023. Ein fast reiner Cabernet-Wein, aber sehr, sehr fein. Sehr auf schwarzer Kirsche und roter Kirsche laufend. Lakritze darunter und dunkle Schokolade. Keinerlei Härte, nichts Sprödes. Minze, Eukalyptus und etwas Moschus. Im Mund mehr zur roten Frucht tendierend. Sauerkirsche, rote Kirsche, Waldhimbeere und Cranberry. Sehr pikant! Helle Schokolade, helle Lakritze und wieder Minze, im Nachgang dann feine Karamelle und eine feine Holzspur. Ein sehr schicker, delikater Wein! Hedonistisch-einladend, aber auch durchaus druckvoll mit einem leichten bitteren Schwänzchen im finale auf der Zunge. Sehr gut, aber nicht so groß wie Margaux und Palmer. Sehr konzentriert und extrahiert. Trotzdem ein großer Margaux in der Klasse von Brane Cantenac und Giscours, der sich mittels ähnlichem Preises dann aber auch ein bisschen aufdrängen muss. *** Dieser 2ème Cru bringt 120.000 Flaschen des Grand Vin und dieselbe Menge Zweitwein von etwas über 50 Hektar Rebfläche hervor. Das Weingut liegt auf einer dicken Kieslinse mit reinem Lehm im Untergrund. Die Reben sind im Durchschnitt über 40 Jahre alt. Im Keller werden die Barriques jedes Jahr zu mehr als der Hälfte erneuert. Seit Jahrzehnten schraubt das Weingut nun konstant an der Qualitätsschraube. Supercleanes Lesegut, neue Edelstahltanks zur Vergärung und strikteres Arbeiten haben Rauzan schon länger wieder in die Reihe der absoluten Top-Weingüter aufsteigen lassen.

Bordeaux 2023 aus Expertensicht über ein reifes und früh trinkbares Jahr mit elegantem, schmeichelndem und seidigem Tannin, hohem Genussfaktor und saftigem Trinkfluss: Stephane Derenoncourt, Önologe, Consultant am rechten und linken Ufer, Winzer, eine lebende Legende in Bordeaux: „Überall waren die Tannine reif und von hoher Qualität. Die Trauben zeigten die volle technologische und phenolische Reife. -- Galloni: The 2023 Rauzan-Ségla is fabulous. Rich, dense and explosive, the 2023 soars out of the glass with captivating aromatics. Readers will find a vertical, deep Margaux endowed with tremendous character and nuance. All the elements are so well-balanced. Crushed rocks, plum, blood orange, spice and leather are some of the notes that explode into the finish. In 2023, the Grand Vin is distinctly red-fruited and vibrant. Rauzan-Ségla is one of the most memorable wines of the vintage. It was nothing short of stellar on the four occasions I tasted it.

-- Jeff Leve: Dark in color, the array of floral notes shoot out with violets, lilacs, and roses. From there you find truffle, red and black fruits, cigar box and cedar also come IT is It is the striking nose powered by violets, and lilacs that gets the wine going, before finding all the currants, black cherries, mint, and spice in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is lush, energetic, long, deep, and rich. There is purity, paired with opulence in the long, vibrant, velvet-textured finish, with just a hint of chalk that appears on the backend. The wine is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.5% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. Once aging, this is a new, record-setting percentage of Cabernet in the blend. 14% Press wine. 13.5% ABV, 3.6 pH. The harvest took place September 7 - September 20. Yields were 30 hectoliters per hectare. The Grand Vin was produced from 50% of the harvest. Drink from 2029-2065. 96-98 Pts.

-- Colin Hay: (Margaux; 85% Cabernet Sauvignon; 13.5% Merlot; 1.5% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 30 hl/ha due to mildew losses; 55% new oak; pH 3.61; 14 per cent press wine; 13.5% alcohol; tasted at the UGC press tasting at the Cité du Vin and then at the property itself; in organic conversion since 2021; 50% of the production was selected for the grand vin; only 62 of the 70 hectares are currently in production). An historically high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (matching the 1988), due to the Merlot being hit more heavily by mildew losse But still with a final yield for the grand vin of 30 hl/ha, as in 2022. There may well not be much of this, but it’s fabulous. Cassis and black berry, graphite-encrusted, a little redcurrant too with its additional freshness, lift and acidity. An easy pick with that combination of subtle and delicate redolently Rauzan-Ségla violet florality, graphite and cedar and a plump and yet full and gracious black currant, bramble and raspberry fruit. Brilliant in the mouth, at the same time fluid, bright, energetic and lithe, yet also chiselled, layered, highly pixilated and deep, dark and concentrated. Truly excellent, with a lovely twist of black pepper on the finish and a touch of salinity. A very beautiful expression of the vintage.

-- Gerstl: Undurchdringliches Rubin-Rot, sehr feine Nase, Gewürznelken, schwarze Frucht und ein Hauch Schokolade, lädt richtiggehend zu einem ersten Schluck ein. Im Gaumen eine wahre Cabernet Offenbarung, extrem frisch mit viel Zug, enorme Komplexität, viel reife Brombeeren, alles wird extrem gut orchestriert. Fülle ist ebenso da, wird aber wunderschön getragen von der einer grossen Tanninstruktur. Ganz grosses Kino, der Abgang ist sehr lang und spannend. (rm)

Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's deep and fleshy, with terrific purity of fruit, supple tannins and a long, resonant finish. This classic in the making is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.5% Merlot and 1.5% Petit Verdot.

-- Jane Anson: Inkier and more luscious in texture than the Ségla, this has rich layers to its aromatic palate, showing rhubarb, savoury cassis and blueberry, peony, rose petals, soot, gunsmoke, graphite, flint, weight and texture, spiralling upwards. Wonderful expression of a wine that seems supremely Margaux and supremely Rauzan Ségla. 50% new oak.

Tim Atkin über: Chateau Rauzan Segla 2eme Cru

-- Tim Atkin: Tight and closed aromas of brooding black fruit with some of the perfume of Margaux and much of the Cabernet of the vintage. The sweet spices of new oak are apparent, but clearly backed up with dense black fruit and concentration. Lush and palate coating with great depth and length, the acidity and fruit weight are perfectly in harmony while the palate and finish floods the mouth with laps of flavour of exotic fruit and spices. It seems that after this estate's dynamic and wonderful 2022, Director François Baudoux has done it again in 2023, albeit in a less exuberant style. Very classy indeed.
