-- Colin Hay: (Champagne; 71% Pinot Noir; 29% Chardonnay; dosage of 4.5 g/l; disgorged in March; 12.5% alcohol; no malolactic fermentation). Tasted in Bordeaux in July and then with Charles Philipponnat at the property two weeks before its release. A subtle hint of gold. Salty. Bready. A little blanched almond or new season almonds before the skins have formed and darkened. Yuzu. Lime and lemon in all their guises. Granny Smith. This is a little like the 2013, but more fluid, even fresher and perhaps more youthful too. It’s also quite a contrast to Les Cintres (tasted alongside) – almost delicate in comparison. Limpid. Classic. Pure, if a little more closed than Les Cintres. Strawberry. Redcurrant. Cinnamon. White flowers. A little honeyed note too and a touch of saffron. Very gracious and refined. Tight and fresh and extremely elegant. It will grow in amplitude with time, as indeed it does with aeration. Extremely tense and charged with energy. Ethereal. Very primitive, but with staggering potential. Hyper fresh. Dense and more compact than Clos Lanson and with even more minerality and salinity. This floats and glides and dances in the mouth where it is, for now, much more expressive. 98/100

Lisa Perrotti Brown über: Champagne Clos des Goisses Extra Brut
-- Lisa Perrotti Brown: The Philipponnat Clos des Goisses 14 is a classic, somewhat yesteryear style of Clos des Goisses that is a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay coming from 14 different small parcels each vinified separately with only the best, ripest elements included in the final blend. None of the wines underwent malolactic to retain freshness and it was finished Extra Brut with a 4.5 gram per liter dosage. Ethereal, floral notes of white viburnum waft over layers of ripe red apple, lemon butter biscuits, almond nougat, clover honey and toast then flow into a medium to full-bodied palate infused with a high-gloss, vibrant acidity shining a Klieg light of freshness on pure red berry fruit and citrus intensity. There is an ease of elegance throughout, and incredible length on the creamy finish. 20,000 bottles. Disgorged in March 2023 and finished with a 4.5 grams per liter dosage. 19984 Bottles produced 97+/100

Wine Spectator über: Champagne Clos des Goisses Extra Brut
-- Wine Spectator: There’s a regal grace to this statuesque version, with a finely detailed, gauzy-textured mousse, chiseled acidity and chalky minerality.

Decanter über: Champagne Clos des Goisses Extra Brut
-- Decanter: From the 5.83-hectare walled vineyard in a cooler, 'classic' vintage for Champagne, giving this a finessed and charming expression. Baked pastry and soft lemon curd notes on the nose, smells inviting and softly floral - honeysuckle, jasmine, lemon and lime rind with some peach. Juicy and so zesty straight away, bright, mouthwateing, scintillatingly fresh and lively, thrilling even, with tiny persistent bubbles that instantly froth and fill the mouth. Alive and energetic with lemon rind and juice, succulent green apples and strawberries, grapefruit and ginger bitterness with touches of salinity and graphite dotting the finish. This makes you instantly want another glass, but this has structure too and such a long finish. No malolactic fermentation. Dosage 4.5g/l. Made by Charles Philipponnat and Thierry Garnier. 97/100

Jeb Dunnuck über: Champagne Clos des Goisses Extra Brut
-- Jeb Dunnuck: Made from 71% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, the 2014 Champagne Clos des Goisses Extra Brut takes on a very pretty and floral profile. Pouring a bright straw hue, it’s lifted with the perfume of cherry blossoms, wet stone, fresh berries, and sweet brioche. Full-bodied, though more linear compared to the 2013 vintage, it’s highlighted by a refined, chalky texture with a pillowy mousse, building to a ripe and rounded mid-palate and a long, elegant finish with a flourish of white pepper spice. Though it’s certainly not the most powerful vintage for the vineyard, it’s very attractive. It will benefit from another couple of years and continue to improve over the next two decades. Disgorged in March of 2023, with 4.5 grams per liter dosage. 96/100
