Lobenberg: 100 Prozent Listrão, das ist der Name der selben Rebsorte auf Porto Santo (einer Nachbarinsel Madeiras), die in Jerez Palomino Fino und auf Teneriffa Listan Blanco heißt. Die über 80 Jahre alten Reben stehen auf kargen, kalkhaltigen Sandböden, mit etwas Lehm. Zehn Monatiger Ausbau in gebrauchten, neutralen, französischen Barriques.Die Nähe zum Meer ist hier klar riechbar, die Nase ist mineralisch und salzig. Zart rauchige, leicht reduktive Aromen werden nach einem Moment im Glas nussig und mischen sich mit Zitrusfrucht und gelbem Steinobst. Im Mund hat der Wein eine ultra feine, beinahe seidige Haptik, die mit dem salzigem Säurespiel auf der Zunge tänzelt. Spannend! Es gibt nur 2.800 Flaschen. Phänomenal gut, wo auch immer Antonio Macanita seine Finger im Spiel hat, kommt garantiert spannender Wein dabei raus. 95-96/100

-- Parker zu 2021: The 2021 Listrão dos Profetas Vinho do P. Santo is all Listrão (a.k.a. Palomino Fino) aged for 10 months in used French oak. It comes in nicely dry and at 12.4% alcohol. This is vaguely similar to the winery's Caracol in this report, with perhaps more cashews than almonds, but here the texture is more sensual. That might be the biggest difference between them. Neither is a lush or rich wine, and both rely on acidity and structure more than a fruity demeanor. The Caracol can seem a bit brighter, while this struck me as slightly richer; however, it is close, and all that is relative. There are still interesting flavor nuances here, like those toasted nuts, and the acidity is well integrated. It's hard to pick between the two, as they are different sides of the same coin, but if pressed, I'd take this first. Ultimately, the answer will depend on how they develop and whether there is further improvement. This should age pretty well, but let's be conservative for the moment. There were 2,800 bottles produced. 93+/100

Jancis Robinson zu 2021 über: Listrão dos Profetas

-- Jancis Robinson zu 2021: Very pale gold. And smells rich and golden, almost orangey, but also wild and spicy. Intense, high-acid citrus, quince and cedar flavours on the palate, remarkable depth of flavour at just 12.5% alcohol. More citrus tension than the bigger 2020 (which had 13.5% alcohol). Searing yet harmonious freshness and a long salty finish. The oak is barely noticeable in terms of flavour but seems to help balance the intense freshness, adding a touch of spice and a more complete texture. Quite different from the 2020 but just as delicious and persistent. 17,5/20

-- Weingut: The island of Porto Santo emerged 14 million years ago in the Atlantic Ocean, being geolo- gically one of the oldest islands in the Portu- guese archipelagos. It was also the first to be discovered by Zarco in 1418. The ancients say it was here that the rippest grapes were harvested for the wine that made these islands famous. Today there are less than 14 hectars left, farmed by a group of resistants. In the neighbour island the people of Porto Santo are known as “Prophets”, an ancient nickname that has never made more sense when you see these old vineyards planted by the sea, close to the ground, protected from the ocean and the wind by “crochet” rock walls or by ingenious cane structures. The Listrão dos Profetas wine comes from these ancient vineyards that are over 80 years old, representing our first attempt in this unique terroir. Traditional low trellis vines, close to the ground, protected from strong winds by reed beds or crochet walls. Age of the vineyards is more than 80 years. Soil is clay-sandy limestone with a pH>8.5. The grapes were hand-harvested and vinified for the first time on the island of Porto Santo. Strict selection in the vineyard, with some vineyards harvested more than once, picking the ripest grapes first and the remaining ones in a second harvest. Whole bunches were pressed directly into settling tanks, separating three fractions, without any use of SO2 until the end of fermentation, to allow for pre-oxi- dation of the must and a fuller spontaneous fermentation. The musts fermented on lees, in horizontal stainless steel tanks of 250L to 1000L, and barrels of 228L where they remained for a total ageing of 11 months. Pale yellow color and an intense nose with saline, mineral notes of gunpowder and iodine. On the palate, it has a full-bodied and textu- red attack, with the aromas repeating in the retronasal. It exhibits superb persistence.
