Lobenberg: 100 Prozent Listrão, das ist der Name der selben Rebsorte auf Porto Santo (einer Nachbarinsel Madeiras), die in Jerez Palomino Fino und auf Teneriffa Listan Blanco heißt. Die über 80 Jahre alten Reben stehen auf kargen, kalkhaltigen Sandböden, mit etwas Lehm. Zehn Monatiger Ausbau in gebrauchten, neutralen, französischen Barriques.Die Nähe zum Meer ist hier klar riechbar, die Nase ist mineralisch und salzig. Zart rauchige, leicht reduktive Aromen werden nach einem Moment im Glas nussig und mischen sich mit Zitrusfrucht und gelbem Steinobst. Im Mund hat der Wein eine ultra feine, beinahe seidige Haptik, die mit dem salzigem Säurespiel auf der Zunge tänzelt. Spannend! Es gibt nur 2.800 Flaschen. Phänomenal gut, wo auch immer Antonio Macanita seine Finger im Spiel hat, kommt garantiert spannender Wein dabei raus. 95-96/100

Parker über: Listrão dos Profetas

-- Parker: The 2021 Listrão dos Profetas Vinho do P. Santo is all Listrão (a.k.a. Palomino Fino) aged for 10 months in used French oak. It comes in nicely dry and at 12.4% alcohol. This is vaguely similar to the winery's Caracol in this report, with perhaps more cashews than almonds, but here the texture is more sensual. That might be the biggest difference between them. Neither is a lush or rich wine, and both rely on acidity and structure more than a fruity demeanor. The Caracol can seem a bit brighter, while this struck me as slightly richer; however, it is close, and all that is relative. There are still interesting flavor nuances here, like those toasted nuts, and the acidity is well integrated. It's hard to pick between the two, as they are different sides of the same coin, but if pressed, I'd take this first. Ultimately, the answer will depend on how they develop and whether there is further improvement. This should age pretty well, but let's be conservative for the moment. There were 2,800 bottles produced. 93+/100

-- Jancis Robinson: Very pale gold. And smells rich and golden, almost orangey, but also wild and spicy. Intense, high-acid citrus, quince and cedar flavours on the palate, remarkable depth of flavour at just 12.5% alcohol. More citrus tension than the bigger 2020 (which had 13.5% alcohol). Searing yet harmonious freshness and a long salty finish. The oak is barely noticeable in terms of flavour but seems to help balance the intense freshness, adding a touch of spice and a more complete texture. Quite different from the 2020 but just as delicious and persistent. 17,5/20

-- Weingut: Porto Santo island emerged in the Atlantic Ocean 14 million year ago, being geologically one of the oldest islands of the Portuguese archipelagus. It’s also the first island to be discovered by the portuguese sailors, led by Zarco, in 1418. The ancients say that it was from here that the rippest grapes were harvested for the wine that made famous these islands. Today there are less than 14 hectars left, farmed by a group of resistants. In the neighbour island the people of Porto Santo are known as “Prophets”, an ancient nickname that has never made more sense when you see these old vineyards planted by the sea, close to the ground, protected from the ocean and the wind by rock walls (crochet walls) or by ingenious cane structures. This wine comes from a vineyard of grape Listrão planted more than 80 years ago, and it is our first attempt on exploring this unique terroir. The grapes were harvested manually, on Saturday on the island of Porto Santo, chosen bucket by bucket and then loaded onto a cold truck for transport by boat to the island of Madeira (since it is not legal to make wine in Porto Santo). At 1:00 am, whole bunch pressed to decantation deposits inside a refrigerated container, with three pressing fractions being separa- ted, without any use of SO2. The following day, the wines were transferred from the primary lees and placed to ferment in 228 L used French oak barrels. Aged for 10 months. The wines were then blended and bottled in a second cellar. Pale yellow color, intense nose, saline, mineral, notes of gunpowder and iodine. Full, textured attack, the aromas are repeated in the retonal. Super persistent.
