Lobenberg: Sibi et Paucis ist die Kellerreserve des Weinguts. »Wir haben uns bewusst dafür entschieden, jedes Jahr einen kleinen Teil unserer drei Nebbiolo-Weine in unserem Keller zu behalten, einige Flaschen Cannubi Boschis (ab dem Jahrgang 2014 trägt die Lage den Namen »Aleste«, nach Barbara Sandrones’ Kindern Alessia und Stefano), Le Vigne und Valmaggiore. Wir gönnen ihnen eine längere Reifezeit: 10 Jahre für Barolo und 6 Jahre für Valmaggiore. In unserer Weinbibliothek finden sie optimale Bedingungen, um zu ruhen, sich zu verfeinern und noch perfekter zu werden.« Der Barolo Le Vigne ist eine Cuvée aus verschiedenen Lagen, inklusive der Toplagen Villero in Castiglione Falletto und Baudana Castiglione in Serralunga. Die Bearbeitung beider Barolo geschieht bei Sandrone auf die gleiche Art und Weise. Vollständige Entrappung, acht Tage kalte Mazeration, dann weitere drei Wochen Fermentation im Stahltank mit anschließender Verweildauer auf der Schale. Verwendet wird nur der Vorlaufwein nach der Vergärung, kein Presswein. Ausbau zu 80% in gebrauchtem 500 Liter fassenden Tonneaux, 20% neues Holz, 24 Monate, kein Abzug, keine Batonnage. Dieser Jahrgang wird 2024 als Sibi et Paucis auf den Markt gebracht. Schon beim Reinriechen ruft er »I’m ready for you!« aus dem Glas. Der Wein ist in einem attraktiven Trinkfenster angekommen. Herbstwald im Sonnenschein, erdig und duftig. Auch dunkel-würzige Aromen wie Trüffel und Assamtee schwingen über der roten Beerenfrucht. Die Tannine sind fein und griffig strukturiert. Im Mund hat der Wein präzise Frische in Form von roter Kirschfrucht und einem Hauch zitrischer Noten, Orangenschalen getrocknete Potpiourri Blüten. Kein ultra dichter Le Vigne, dieser Wein schwimmt eher auf der eleganten Welle, aber die Intensität macht er mit seinen herrlich aromatischen Aromen wieder wett. 96/100

Suckling über: Barolo Le Vigne - Sibi et Paucis

-- Suckling: Bright ruby with a garnet rim. Dried cherries and Parma violets are loaded together with licorice, but there is also a darker character of fresh prunes and restrained minty minerality. Dense, velvety and relaxing, but with a full body and great concentration. The tannins are soaked with savory flavors of prunes and licorice and sustained by lifted acidity. Best now, but will last for another 10 years.

-- Galloni: The 2014 Barolo Le Vigne once again shows the wisdom of blending fruit from different sites. If there is a vintage where blending has the potential to be the difference-maker, 2014 is it. So it is hardly surprising to find the 2014 Le Vigne in such great shape. The red cherry jam, mint, cedar and floral notes are all finely sketched. Medium in body and classy, the 2014 is beautifully textured and inviting from start to finish. All the elements are simply in the right place. Vineyard sources are Merli, Vignane, Villero and Baudana. 96/100

This gorgeous Barolo is sourced from multiple vineyards, which include Ceretta, Vignane, Merli, Conterni, and Villero. The wine itself begins with absolutely striking aromas of dark cherries and red plums woven together with violets, spices, wet stones and hints of fresh mint all taking shape. On the palate this is medium-bodied with fine, silky tannins and beautiful concentration. It displays wonderful purity, along with a lovely combination of balance and finesse through the elegant finish. 'Le Vigne' is nothing short of a total success in this vintage, and should continue to drink well for many years to come. 96/100

-- Parker: Luciano Sandrone and his daughter Barbara tell me that the 2014 harvest needs explaining. Many are quick to dismiss it given the difficulties of the growing season that saw abundant rain, hail and bombe d'acqua, or 'water bombs,' which are a dangerous phenomenon with intense rainfall in a very small radius. But hard work does pay off. The Sandrone family employed 38 people for farming, when the average harvest requires only 22 pairs of vineyard hands. Great care was required to keep the leaves and the clusters healthy. The 2014 Barolo le Vigne is bright and fruit-forward. It is perhaps more accessible in the near term compared to past editions. It delivers dark fruit nuances over a mid-weight and compact mouthfeel. 94/100
